内容简介:

Failure prediction of brittle cermets is mostly the question of probabilistic approach to inner structural defect assessment. The brittle static fracture is characterized by ultra-high rates of crack propagation, which are directly connected to the size of microstructural defects. These defects are conditioned by the manufacturing routes common for powder metallurgy. The purpose of the study is to predict the fatigue behavior and the limit of cermets using Murakami approach.

Irina Preis,the Lecturer of Tallinn University of Technology, Research Assistant of University of Tampere and Personal Coach of Hanken &SSE Executive Education.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

Fatigue and fracture of heterogeneous wear resistant powder materials applied in machining and tribological systems. Setting up and verification of the existing methods for fracture toughness testing of cemented carbides Assessment of crack propagation and fracture toughness of different types of composite materials with further calculation of stress intensity factors, elastic factors, and elastic and plastic strain. Application of ARAMIS high frequency optical systems.

Elaboration and verification of different testing systems for brittle materials working at high stresses, fracture simulation and modelling, carrying out patent surveys concerning durability assessment methods and their applications, new particulate materials for special purposes developed during last decades, their production methods and applications.
